In Madina Munawwara (also known as Medina), the second holiest city in Islam and the site of the Prophet Muhammad’s Mosque (Masjid al-Nabawi), the Adhan holds immense significance. The Adhan in Madina is recited with reverence and devotion by skilled muezzins, similar to the Adhan in Makkah.

The Adhan in Madina follows the traditional format, consisting of the same phrases as mentioned earlier:

Allahu Akbar (God is the Greatest) – repeated four times
Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah) – repeated two times
Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasool Allah (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah) – repeated two times
Hayya ‘ala-s-Salah (Hasten to prayer) – repeated two times
Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah (Hasten to success) – repeated two times
Allahu Akbar (God is the Greatest) – repeated two times
La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah) – repeated one time
The Adhan in Madina is recited multiple times a day, announcing the beginning of each of the five daily prayers. The echoes of the Adhan resonate throughout the city, reminding residents and visitors alike of their spiritual duties and obligations towards prayer. Hearing the Adhan in Madina is a deeply moving experience for Muslims, as it connects them to the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad and the early days of Islam.
